Why are grams of allulose and fiber subtracted from total grams of carbohydrate when calculating net carbs in Splenda® Diabetes Care Shakes?
When calculating net carbs, allulose is subtracted from total carbohydrates because it is not metabolized and therefore causes no increase in blood glucose or blood insulin levels (International Food Information Council). Net carbs are calculated by subtracting fiber grams and allulose grams from total grams of carbohydrate.
